Glass Fused to Steel Tanks

GLASS FUSED to STEEL TANK, a type of custom GFS tank, is assembled on-site from special enamel steel plates, stirrups, self-locking bolts, sealants and other accessories. The raw material of the steel plate is a special titanium-containing enamel hot-rolled plate developed in cooperation with domestic first-tier steel companies, which is formed using fast and low-cost on-site assembly technology.

After the enameled steel plate is fired at a high temperature of 820°-930°, the enamel will fuse with the surface of the steel plate to form a strong and chemically inert inorganic coating with excellent corrosion resistance.

The enamel process is currently the most advanced coating anti-corrosion technology in the steel storage tank market.

Why Choose GFS Water Storage Tanks Over Alternatives?

Unmatched Corrosion Resistance

The glass-fused coating acts as a protective barrier, blocking acids, alkalis, salts, and organic contaminants from damaging the steel core. This ensures safe storage of drinking water (potable), fire water, and even chemically treated wastewater—without leaching harmful substances.

Hygienic & Safe for Potable Water

GFS tanks meet strict hygiene standards (e.g., FDA, NSF/ANSI 61 for potable water contact), with a smooth, non-porous surface that inhibits bacterial growth. Ideal for municipal water utilities, schools, hospitals, and food processing facilities.

Scalable & Customizable

Available in capacities from 5000L to 1000000L+, GFS tanks can be tailored to your space constraints (indoor/outdoor), installation site (flat ground, sloped terrain), and specific needs (insulation for temperature control, agitators for sludge mixing).

Long Lifespan, Low Maintenance

With proper care, GFS tanks last 25–30 years—far longer than fiberglass (10–15 years) or plastic (5–10 years). Minimal maintenance (occasional cleaning, inspections) keeps them operational for decades.

Cost-Effective Long-Term

While upfront costs may exceed cheaper materials, GFS tanks save money over time through reduced repairs, lower replacement frequency, and energy efficiency (e.g., insulated models reduce heating/cooling needs).

What Are GFS Water Storage Tanks?

GFS Water Storage Tanks (Glass Fused to Steel) combine the structural strength of carbon steel with a vitreous enamel glass coating, creating a robust, corrosion-resistant solution for storing potable water, fire reserves, irrigation supplies, and industrial process water. Unlike traditional materials like fiberglass or plastic, GFS tanks resist chemical degradation, rust, and pitting—even in harsh environments—making them ideal for municipal, agricultural, commercial, and industrial applications.

Top Applications of GFS Water Storage Tanks

  • Municipal & Public Water: Storing potable water for cities, towns, and villages; fire water reservoirs for emergency response.

  • Agriculture: Irrigation water holding, livestock hydration, and fertilizer blending.

  • Industrial: Process water storage (cooling, cleaning, chemical dilution), wastewater pretreatment, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems.

  • Commercial: Hotels, resorts, and campuses needing reliable backup water for restrooms, landscaping, and fire safety.

  • Renewables: Storing rainwater for solar/wind-powered irrigation or hydrogen production facilities.

Key Features That Set GFS Water Tanks Apart

FeatureBenefit
Glass-Fused CoatingAcid/alkali-resistant; prevents leaching into stored water.
Steel Core StructureWithstands high pressure (up to 0.6 MPa) and impacts; ideal for large volumes.
Custom DesignsTailored to your capacity, shape (cylindrical, rectangular), and site needs.
Easy InstallationFactory-fabricated modules reduce on-site labor and project timelines.
Compliance CertificationsMeets ISO 9001, NSF/ANSI 61 (potable), AWWA D103 (fire), and local standards.

How to Choose the Right GFS Water Storage Tank

When selecting a GFS tank, consider these critical factors:

  • Storage Purpose: Potable water requires NSF/ANSI 61 certification; fire water needs AWWA D103 compliance.

  • Capacity: Match the tank size to your peak demand (e.g., a 500000L tank for a small town’s fire reserve).

  • Installation Site: Flat ground? Sloped terrain? Our team designs custom foundations for stable installation.

  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to saltwater, chemicals, or extreme temperatures? We recommend specialized coatings (e.g., salt-resistant enamel).

  • Budget & Longevity: Prioritize GFS for lower lifetime costs—even if upfront costs are higher than alternatives.

FAQs About GFS Water Storage Tanks

  • Q: Are GFS water tanks safe for drinking water?
A: Yes—our GFS tanks meet NSF/ANSI 61 standards for potable water contact, ensuring no harmful chemicals leach into the water.

  • Q: How long does it take to install a GFS water tank?
A: For standard designs, installation takes 3–5 days. Custom or large tanks may take 1–2 weeks, depending on site preparation.

  • Q: Can GFS tanks handle freezing temperatures?
A: Yes—with insulated jackets (available as an option), GFS tanks withstand temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F) without cracking.

  • Q: Do you offer maintenance services for GFS water tanks?
A: Yes—we provide routine inspections, cleaning, and coating touch-ups to extend your tank’s lifespan.
